Overland Park, Kansas – The Kappa Epsilon Fraternity is proud to announce that Petra T. Schultz, PharmD, has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the Kappa Epsilon / Merck Vanguard Leadership Award. The KE / Merck Vanguard Leadership Award was established in 1989 to recognize members who have made exemplary contributions in their area of practice, demonstrated leadership qualities of service beyond self and professional achievements that have influenced others serving as a role model to young practitioners.

Petra was initiated into the Kappa Chapter at the University of Florida (Gainesville) in 1994. She served in various roles, including chapter president prior to being elected to the KE Grand Council in 1997 as Vice President of Membership Recruitment. Petra also held the offices of VP Collegiate Development, President-elect, Grand Council President, and Immediate Past President. She continues to support the Fraternity and Kappa Epsilon Foundation.

After receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida, Petra completed Pharmacy Practice and Drug Information Practice Residencies at University Medical Center/SHANDS Jacksonville, now UF Health Jacksonville. She practiced in academia and hospital environments at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC, Charleston) and Mayo Clinic Jacksonville (Florida). During her tenure at MUSC, Petra was the founding advisor for the Beta Chi chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society and served as co-coordinator of the Pharmacy Practice Residency Program. While at the Mayo Clinic, Petra developed and implemented the Drug Information Center, serving Mayo Clinic clinicians throughout Northeast Florida. In all practice settings, she served as clinical preceptor to students and residents, instilling the importance of life-long learning, professional growth, and service.

Petra is currently Director of Product Management in the Provider Business of Truven Health Analytics. She leads a team of product managers responsible for the Micromedex® Clinical Knowledge, Patient Connect (CareNotes®), and 360 Care Insights Suites, which deliver evidence-based clinical and patient engagement solutions to improve patient care. Prior to her current role, Petra was a Senior Clinical Content Specialist, Editorial Manager, and Senior Manager for Clinical and Academic Affairs for Micromedex Solutions. She is also a member of the Charitable Contributions Committee for the Greenwood Village, Colorado office.

Throughout her academic and professional careers, Petra has been dedicated to her profession and her communities. She has organized and participated in numerous health screening and education, music education, and community service projects across Florida, South Carolina, and Colorado. Petra holds memberships in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, previously serving as President of the Northeast Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists. She has been recognized with the Regional Society President’s Award and the Forerunner Award by the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Petra also received her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Florida State University, where she was active in the Marching Chiefs, Tau Beta Sigma National Band Service Sorority (Life Member), Seminole Ambassadors, and Mortar Board National Honor Society. She remains active with the FSU Marching Chiefs Alumni, previously serving on the Board of Directors.

Petra is married to Rick Ervin and is the proud mother of 3-year-old son, Bretton, who continues to amaze her with his curiosity, wit, and musicality. She enjoys traveling, music, snow skiing and all things outdoors in the Denver area.
