The Alpha Omicron Chapter of Kappa Epsilon at St. Louis College of Pharmacy was awarded ‘Organization of the Year’ at the Student Leadership Recognition Banquet this past April at Windows on Washington in St. Louis. To be eligible to receive the award, the Chapter had to exemplify extraordinary community service efforts. Some of these activities include handing out carnations to Siteman Cancer Center patients, cooking breakfast for Ronald McDonald House Charities, packaging meals for St. Louis Food Outreach Program, and raising approximately $2,500 for the Young Survivors Coalition during their school-wide Breast Cancer Week. The Alpha Omicron Chapter of KE is also very involved in activities in conjunction with St. Louis College of Pharmacy. In addition to holding a Breast Cancer Awareness week in the fall, they also participate in Outreach and Advocacy day promoting Osteoporosis Awareness. Other school-wide activities include a Breast Cancer Speaker in the spring and taking part in the STLCOP C.A.R.E.S. program in the fall.

The award was decided by St. Louis College of Pharmacy’s Scholarship Committee and the Alpha Omicron Chapter was presented $1,000 for their efforts. The Chapter plans on donating that money to the American Red Cross in honor of their late sister, Morgan Ciota, who passed away earlier this year.

This is the first time in history that Alpha Omicron has received the ‘Organization of the Year’ award. Their current President, Kourtney Brammeier, says that, “Even though we’ve had a rough year, each and every member of Alpha Omicron has worked exceptionally hard to better this organization. We have made progress in many areas and I can attribute that to the great officers and members that we have had this year. They have all done a great job.”

We congratulate our Alpha Omicron Chapter of Kappa Epsilon on all of their accomplishments and wish them continued success in their future endeavors!
